Budget template obligation log

You can track changes to the budget group total obligation amounts with the budget template obligation log. You can audit obligation updates to help track any missing changes. You can diagnose discrepancies between the budget template obligations and the Global Ledger Totals (GLTOT) plus unposted journals.

This table describes when log entries are created and updated.

Activate a template When a template is activated and budget template obligations exist, an initial log entry is created to reflect the existing obligation amounts for the template.
Release transactions When transactions that update the budget template obligation from systems with budget edits enabled are released, a log entry is created.
Perform process pending actions When process pending actions are performed, logs are created, updated, or removed.

Once enabled, the Obligations Log tab is displayed on the template and budget group. A Log link is also available for each budget group obligation record.

The timestamp, budget group amount, increment amount, and previous amount are displayed on each log entry. The business class that triggers the change, the invoking action, and additional context are included.

Log entries are deleted when templates are deactivated or deleted. You can manually delete the log entries.

Log entries are retained when the logging is turned off or a scenario is reset. Logging can be turned off at any time. If logging is turned off, any updates to the budget template obligations are not tracked until logging is turned back on.

Note: Enabling this functionality may affect the budget edit performance. We recommend enabling logging while troubleshooting a mismatch between the Global Ledger Totals plus unposted journals and the budget template obligations.
