Budget scenario numbering

A budget scenario contains information for specific budget data. When a budget scenario is created, a budget scenario number is assigned. The original budget data and any budget adjustments are held as separate child scenarios on the budget scenario.

Original budget data

When a budget scenario is created, the next scenario number is reserved as its child scenario to contain original budgets. Original budgets can be created or updated. For example, a budget scenario is created with a scenario number of 86. An imported budget is created as a child scenario with a scenario number of 87. A subsequent updated budget imported by incremental load is also created as a child scenario with a scenario number of 87.

Original budget data are stored as Finance Totals in the GeneralLedgerTotal business class with a commitment type of Budget Original.

See Loading incremental budgets.

Budget adjustments using quick change and change requests

When a change request is released, the budget adjustment is assigned the subsequent scenario number after the number reserved for original budgets. The child scenario number is displayed on the change request list and form. For example, a budget scenario is created with a scenario number of 86. The first budget adjustment is assigned a scenario number of 88. The next budget adjustment is assigned a scenario number of 89.

Budget adjustments are stored as Finance Totals in the GeneralLedgerTotal business class with a commitment type of Budget Change.
