Journal entry statuses
A status is assigned to each journal entry and journal entry transaction line to identify where the transaction is in the processing cycle. The status on a header record does not always match the status of the detail lines for the same journal entry.
These tables show the valid journal entry and transaction line statuses:
Journal entry header statuses
Status | Description |
---|---|
Unreleased | The journal entry is not available for posting. This is the initial status for a new saved journal entry. You can make changes to a journal entry in unreleased status. |
Pending Approval | The status is updated to Pending
Approval when the Release process is initiated if
these conditions are met:
|
Released | The journal entry is released and is available for
posting. The Unrelease Of Released Entries setting on the accounting entity is used to determine whether the released entries can be unreleased. Only manual journal entries can be unreleased. Subsystem entries are interfaced to Global Ledger with a status of Released. |
Posted |
The journal entry is posted. All journal entries must be posted before you can close a period. |
Deleted | The journal entry is moved to the Deleted status. No updates to the journal entry are allowed. Only unreleased journal entries can be moved to the Deleted status. |
Journal entry transaction line statuses
Status | Description |
---|---|
Unreleased | The transaction line is not available for posting. The transaction line can be changed. |
Released | The transaction line is available for posting. The transaction line cannot be changed. |
Memo | The transaction line is for information only. Memo lines are transaction lines that specify an accounting entity that differs from the accounting entity on the journal control. A transaction line is created by the system with a CB event from the memo lines to balance the journal entry. |
Posted | The transaction line has been posted. |
