New item proposals

New item proposals are goods or services that Suppliers or Requesters propose to buyers.

New item proposals can replace existing goods or services. Trial items are proposed items that are ordered through requisitions and purchase orders. Trial items allow clients to try items before they purchase them.

The new item proposal process consists of these steps:

  • The Supplier proposes a new item proposal and provides information.
  • The Coordinator views the new item proposal. Next, the Coordinator determines if others must review the proposal. The Coordinators notifies other reviewers. Then the Coordinator and reviewer either approve or reject the proposal.
  • If the proposed item is a trial item, requisitions and purchase orders must be created to receive and assess the item prior to final review.
  • If the proposed item is replacing an existing item, you can use the notice function to process the item that is being replaced.
  • If the new item is approved, an item worksheet is created. From this worksheet, the item specialist can create items, associated records, and optionally, a contract.
