Creating project structure validations

  1. Select Project Finance Structure Validation.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Project
Select the project to which the validation rule is applied. You can select a summary project or a posting project. If a summary project is selected, then the rule is applied to all child posting projects for which a rule is not created.
    Project Structure Validation <Dimension>
Select the dimension to which the validation rule is applied. If this field is blank, then the rule is applied to all of the levels of the dimension.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the Project Finance Structure Validation Rules section, click Create.
  6. Specify this information:
    Code Block Dimension
Select the code block dimension for which to define the range. The options that are available are the dimensions that are defined on the finance enterprise group. If all values for a dimension are valid, then the dimension is not required.
    Rule Option
Select whether the values defined in the range are included or excluded from the rule.
    From Value
Enter the value at which the included or excluded range begins.
    To Value
Enter the value at which the included or excluded range ends.
    Rule Group
Specify the rule group to create multiple sets of rules. Assign the same rule group to all of the code block dimensions that are included in the group. Dimensions that are in the same rule group are applied by the rule as AND conditions. Dimensions that are in different rule groups are applied by the rule as OR conditions. Do not create multiple lines in one rule group for a single dimension because a transaction cannot meet all rules. For example, you set up a rule group that includes an accounting unit of ABC and an accounting unit of DEF. An error is returned because a transaction cannot include two accounting units.
  7. Click Save.
  8. To add another row to the rule, click Create to add a new row or select an existing row and click Copy Row.
