Project employees

If you are using Project Ledger, an employee must be set up as a project employee before you can assign them to a project. A project employee must be a valid employee in the HR organization that is assigned to the finance enterprise group.

Project assignments are used to track employee work dates, role, billable rate, labor distribution fringe burden code, labor distribution, and fringe benefit finance structure. Project employees and assignments are required for these solutions:

  • Project Invoicing and Revenue time and materials billable contract rates
  • Grant Accounting salary encumbrance, labor distribution, planned and actual effort percentages
  • Effort certification percentages required for projects that are funded by federal grants

When an employee record is inactivated, the project employee record is not automatically inactivated. A lag time usually occurs when labor is processed for a project employee after the employee record termination or retirement dates. An alert is displayed on inactive employee records. The project employee record must be manually inactivated when all processing for the project employee is completed.
