Moving a project branch to a new parent project

  1. Select Financials > Project Ledger > Setup > Project Setup.
  2. Click the Structure tab.
  3. Open a project structure and click the Hierarchy tab.
  4. Select a project and select Actions > Move.
  5. Specify this information:
    New Parent Project
Select a new summary project for the branch to reside under.
    Begin Date, End Date
The default value for the begin and end dates are from the project you are moving. Specify dates within the date range of the project to which you are moving the branch.
  6. Click Submit.
Note: Moving projects is limited by these constraints:
    1. No open created invoices or revenue can exist for the existing contract. All open created invoices and revenue must be deleted before moving.
    2. A posting project cannot be assigned to the existing contract retainer or milestones.
    3. A posting project cannot be assigned to the clearing project on the project funding source.
    4. A posting project cannot be assigned as the default milestone project on a milestone funding source.
The move action will move the posting project, costs, assignments, and billing overrides to the new contract. If costs should not be moved with the posting project you must manually reverse any costs posted to the project. We recommend reversing costs from the original source system.
