Creating processing rules

Cash transaction processing rules are user-defined. They are used to determine the category and, optionally, the source of the distribution information for each bank statement line. The processing rules define where distribution information is retrieved from when the category is Post to Global Ledger or Post to Cash Ledger. Custom groups are used to define the types of transactions that are selected to apply the rule against.

  1. Select Processing Rules.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify a Processing Rule name and Description.
  4. Specify this information:
    Custom Group
Specify the custom group of bank statement lines.

    See Custom groups.

    Category
Specify the category that is used to classify bank transactions. The category is applied on the statement lines that satisfy the condition given in the Custom Group.
    Coding Option
    Select a coding option:
    • None: Finance structure is not required.
    • Category: Use the finance structure information defined on the attached category.
    • Processing Rule: Use the finance structure information that is defined on this rule. If this option is selected, then the fields for Cash Allocation Code and Account Information are enabled. You can then define the distributions that are applicable for this processing rule.
    • Identifier: Use the distribution information from identifiers. If you select this option, then an identifier type is required. The custom group that is linked to the processing must also include one of these values to indicate a selection based on the identifier:
      • DescriptionMatchesIdentifier
      • RelatedReferenceMatchesIdentifier
      • BankReferenceMatchesIdentifier
      • TextReferenceMatchesIdentifier
  5. Click Save.
