Creating child summary accounts
- Select Financials > Global Ledger > Setup > Finance Enterprise Group > Maintenance.
- Open the finance enterprise group and click the Chart tab.
- Open the chart and click the Hierarchy tab.
- Select the account, then select Actions > Create Child Account.

Specify this information:
- Account Type
- Select the account type. It must match the parent account.
- Summary Account
- Specify the name of the new summary account.
- Description
- Specify the description of the new summary account.
- New Display Account
- Specify the name of the account that is displayed. The account specified will be the default value for the display account. Specify a new name in this field for the account name to display differently than you originally specified it. The original field cannot be changed.
- Display Order
- Specify the order to display the account.
- Translation Code
- Select the translation code or the parent
account translation code is the default. Note: This field is displayed only if the Currency Revaluation And Translation check box is selected during finance enterprise group setup.
- Revalue
- Select this check box to if you want the
transactions that are associated with this summary account to be
revalued. Note: This field is displayed only if the Currency Revaluation And Translation check box is selected during finance enterprise group setup.
- Xbrl tag
- If your finance enterprise group uses the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), then you can specify an XBRL tag for the account.
- Summary Chart Account Maintenance
- Select a business class group if you want posting accounts that meet the criteria to automatically become children of the summary account. If you do not select an account group, then you can manually attach accounts.
- Budget Identifier
- If you use budget edit, specify a budget identifier to assign to the summary account. The identifiers are used in budget edit templates.
- Click Save.
- After the child summary account is created, you can open the account. Click the Currency Account tab to override the unrealized gain loss accounts or the translation gain loss accounts. The default value is the system-defined unrealized gain loss and translation gain loss accounts. This tab is displayed only if the Currency Revaluation And Translation check box is selected during finance enterprise group setup.
