Creating system controls for accounting entities

System controls can be created for each subsystem that posts a journal entry to Global Ledger. For each accounting entity and subsystem, you can specify interface controls, override the currency rate, and set closing controls.

Closing controls are used to identify the system codes that must be closed before the Global Ledger period is closed. Using closing controls for non-Global Ledger systems you can specify valid entry dates. Verify that all subsystem activity is interfaced and posted to Global Ledger before the period is closed.

  1. Select Financials > Global Ledger > Setup > Finance Enterprise Group > Maintenance.
  2. Open the finance enterprise group and click the Accounting Entity tab.
  3. Open an accounting entity and click the System Control tab.
  4. Click Create.
  5. Specify this information:
    System
Select a Global Ledger system code for which to create controls.
  6. In the Interface Controls section, specify this information:
    Auto Post
Select this check box if journal entries that originate in the selected system should be automatically posted to Global Ledger.
    Hold Code
If you select a hold code, it is assigned to all Global Ledger transactions that originate from this system for the accounting entity. You must remove the hold code from the transactions before you can post them.
  7. In the Override Currency Table section, specify this information:
    Currency Table
Select a currency table to override the exchange rate table that is assigned to the finance enterprise group. The override currency rate table is used for both manual and recurring journal entries.
  8. In the Closing Control section, specify this information:
    Control
If you select this check box, the subsystem period must be closed before the Global Ledger period can be closed. Select this check box only if you selected these System codes: CA, GL, PS, and RJ.

All other sub system closing controls must be defined in the Global Ledger Company record.

  9. Click Save.
