Tax date

There must be an option to specify invoice date, prepayment date, delivery date, or another date as the tax date. The tax date is different than document, accounting, and transaction dates. The tax date primarily affects accounts receivable and accounts payable invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and AR and AP corrective transactions.

Bahrain specifics

VAT becomes chargeable on a taxable transaction on the tax due date, which affects when VAT is charged. It also affects when to issue payment to the NBR and provide documents such as tax invoices, tax credit notes, and tax debit notes in the relevant tax return.

The general rules were created by VAT Law and Executive Regulations to define the tax due date for supplies of goods and services. They also define the special rules that are applicable to certain types of transactions. Imports of goods have other tax due date rules.

After you identify that VAT is due, you must pay it in accordance with the relevant payment procedure.
