Barcode data

To maximize the value of a barcoding system, you can scan as much data as possible.

You can manually select and update any of the data that you can scan. Some assets have vendor-supplied barcoded numbers. You can scan these barcodes also when adding the assets. The Infor barcoding solution provides these types of bar codes:

  • Barcode labels

These are the types of barcodes that you must physically print as labels and apply:

    • The space label identifies the location of the asset and is typically applied to one consistent spot in the location. For example, the door of a room where assets are stored.
    • The asset item label is a randomly assigned barcode label that is on the item.
  • Workbook barcodes

You can generate workbooks that contain scannable data. These workbooks are not required, but they save time and typographical errors by letting the HHT operator scan the data. You can generate these workbooks:

    • A location detail workbook contains the name of each location detail in a location in scannable form.
    • An asset template workbook contains the name of each asset template in scannable form.
    • A product category workbook contains a unique scannable ID for each manufacturer and model.
