Data hierarchy

As administrator, you must define the data hierarchy for the application and configure access to data hierarchy levels for application users. A data hierarchy determines users' access to data in the application and filters the availability of categories and corresponding sub-items in the Style, Material, and Trim overview panels.

If you do not define a data hierarchy or define users' access to data hierarchy levels, users can sign in to the application but will not be able view data.

By setting up data levels in a hierarchy, you accomplish these necessary tasks:

Specify users' access to data, enabling you to filter what they can view, add, or modify.
Define and specify the types of data that users can create in the application.
Set up default data and access to certain features, such as styles.

You define data hierarchies for each user or user group in the application.

This table shows the hierachy of generic lookup items for each module:
