Overview
IFA enables applications that adopt IFA to register toggled features. Customers can see the toggled features in the IFA UI and can turn them on or off at the tenant level. Customers can test new features in test (TST) tenants before enabling them in production (PRD) tenants. This enables customers to review the information and evaluate new features with consideration of technical and business impacts, before adopting them.
Features
Features are customer-facing changes released in Feature Releases.
For example, Feature Releases include April or October releases. Some features are released outside of the regular release cycle to address time-sensitive changes. Features are usually categorized based on their effect on customers. The delivery approach depends on the chosen category.
Release information accompanies all features that are noticeable to customers. The release information explains the changes. Feature types that require training or onboarding include appropriate training materials.
Feature toggling
At the feature release in which the toggle is planned to be available, the toggle becomes visible to customers in the IFA UI. Customers can then enable or disable the feature for each tenant.
Feature lifecycle
Release Version
A feature first enters the Release stage when it becomes available to customers in a specific release version. This stage can include new features, feature toggles, or defect fixes.
Rollout Version
A toggled feature may advance to the Rollout stage. At this stage, the feature is enabled by default for all tenants starting from the specified rollout version. Administrators can still disable the feature if the feature is reversible.
Expiration Version
A toggled feature reaches the Expiration stage when it can no longer be disabled. Starting from the specified expiration version, the feature is permanently enabled.
