Meta tags

When you upload a document, you must determine how and where the document is available within the site so that users can access it.

In HRSD Knowledgebase, you can use meta tags to map uploaded documents to the system framework and the search engine, and determine where documents and document links are displayed within the portal. You must assign appropriate meta tags to an uploaded document to ensure that it is visible in the correct areas of the portal and accessible to the intended audience. Links to properly tagged documents are displayed in the portal based on logic defined by the system’s intuitive interlinking.

This table shows the broad categories of the meta tags that you can use to optimize your site:
Category Description
Primary Location Required meta tags that determine where a link to a document is available on your site
Secondary Location Optional meta tags that determine other areas of the site where a link to a document is available
Key Word Meta tags that define user‑specified search terms and are recommended to add alternative names, terms, or references for a document

Location meta tags

Location meta tags control where links to a document are displayed within the site’s navigation framework. These meta tags determine the sections, landing pages, or navigation paths through which users can access a document.

In HRSD Knowledgebase, you don't place uploaded documents in folders or link documents manually throughout the site. Users can use location meta tags along with groups rules and other variables to map the documents to determine when and where links to a document are displayed within the portal.

For example, if you upload a PDF about Community Service opportunities, you must assign the appropriate meta tags to determine where the document is displayed in the portal.

For uploaded documents, you must use the meta tag strategies that are specified in your Landing Page Planner to map content to your portal.

Location meta tag strategy

When assigning location meta tags to an uploaded document, you must select values that match where the document is available in the portal.

When uploading a document in Document Manager > Add New Document > Create Uploaded Document, review the values available in the Articles field. These values represent the article or source document that corresponds to the landing page where the document is displayed. After you assign the article to the uploaded document, the data items associated with the selected article are automatically added to the document for configuration

To ensure consistent document placement, we recommend that you use the Landing Page Planner provided by your Infor representative.

Key words meta tags

Key Word meta tags provide additional identification of a document for the search engine.

In HRSD Knowledgebase, you must use the meta tag keywords to associate a document with relevant search terms. The keywords meta tag has a 250-character limit, which includes punctuation and spaces.
