Configuring a widget with a single-date timer

This topic describes the process by which widget with a single-date timer is configured. You can rename the widget and configure the data items that are associated with images, subject, text, timer, title, and pinning to the home page.

Requirements:
  • File names of images should have no spaces, punctuation, or special characters. The best practice is to append the image with WID to indicate that it is a widget image. For example, complianceWID.png.
  • The image that is shown in the widget. You can use the standard image, or you can specify another image. The dimensions of images must be exactly 470 pixels in width x 100 pixels in height. Files must be .png or .jpg.
  • The image must be uploaded to the system before it can be added to a widget.
  1. Locate the widget in the document manager. Click Edit. This action checks the document out and opens the document in configuration mode.
  2. To update the name and details, click Tools > Details and specify this information:
    Name
    On the Details page, specify the name of the widget, then click Update.
  3. Click Update.
  4. Add groups to the widget. In addition to the groups that you add to the timer, add the AnswerTools group rule to the timer group rules.
  5. Click the Configure menu list to the left of the title and select Options.
  6. To enable text to be shown below the timer and above the link list, select Widget Intro Text. Later in the process you specify the text that is shown.
  7. To enable an image to be shown in the widget, click Widget Image. A standard image is used as a default setting. You can specify a different image later in the process. You can disable this option so no image is shown.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. To specify the data items for images, text, and widget properties, click the Configure menu list to the left of the title and select Data Items.
  10. Specify the data items.

    To configure an image to use instead of the default image, specify these data items:

    • [*cardimgalt*]: Specify a description of the image for 508 compliance.
    • [*cardimgurl*]: Specify the path of the uploaded image.

    To configure the subject, specify this data item:

    • [*subject*]: Specify a single, unique word that is used map content to the widget if using the widget linklist.

    To configure text, specify these data items:

    • [*introductorytext*]: Introductory text is shown below the timer and above the linklist. If the widget uses introductory text, then select the associated option.
    • [*linklistheader*]: The linklist header is shown above the linklist and linklist text, like a linklist title. This is optional.
    • [*linklisttext*]: Linklist text is shown below the linklist header and above the linklist, like an introduction to the linklist. This is optional.
    • mainwidget: Do not edit this data item.

    To configure timer properties, specify these data items:

    • [*enddate*]: Specify the date and time that the timer ends. Use the 24-hour format: MM DD, YYYY 00:00:01 + UTC time code. For example, specify 06 26, 2023 12:00:01 -0400 spring-summer for US East Coast Daylight Savings Time. For example, specify 02 23, 2023 23:59:01-0500 fall-winter for US East Coast Standard Time.
    • [*id*]: Specify a unique identifier for the widget.
    • [*beginheader*]: Specify the message that is shown under the timer name and above the countdown after the timer has started but before it has ended.
    • [*finalheader*]: Specify the message that is shown when the countdown has ended.
    • [*tdays*]: Specify the text that is shown under the number of days in the timer. For example, D or Days.
    • [*thours*]: Specify the text that is shown under the number of hours in the timer. For example, H, Hrs or Hours.
    • [*tmin*]: Specify the text that is shown under the number of minutes in the timer. For example, M, Min or Minutes.
    • [*tsec*]: Specify the text that is shown under the number of seconds in the timer. For example, S, Sec or Seconds.
    • [*name*]: Specify the name of the timer. This name is shown at the top of the timer, below the image and above the messages. Do not use special characters in the name.
    • [*column*]: To pin the widget on the home page, specify the number of the column where the widget is shown. Confirm the total number of widget columns on the home page.
    • [*height1*]: Specify the default setting. Do not edit this setting. Only the default setting can be used.
    • [*height2*]: Specify auto='true'.
    • [*icon1*]: Leave blank.
    • [*icon2*]: Leave blank.
    • [*order1*]: Specify the default setting.
    • [*order2*]: Specify the order within the column.
    • [*pin1*]: Specify the default setting. Do not edit.
    • [*pin2*]: Specify the default setting. Do not edit this setting. Only the default setting can be used.
    • [*title1*]: Specify the default setting. Do not edit this setting. Only the default setting can be used.
    • [*title2*]: Specify the title of the widget. Do not use special characters in the name. This title is not shown on the portal, but it is part of the pinning code.
  11. Close the data item menu.
  12. Select Check In > Check In to check in the document.
  13. You can set an expiration date for the widget. When the date occurs, the widget is removed from the home page. To set an expiration date for the widget, open the document in Edit mode and select Tools > Details.
  14. In the Advanced section, specify this information:
    Expiration Date
    Specify the date the widget is removed from the home page.
  15. Click Update.
  16. Select Publish > Stage to publish the widget.
