Adding section 508 compliance text to an image

You can add a written description of an image to comply with Section 508.

Typically you add a description when you insert the image. If the site must meet Section 508 requirements and if you have already added images but haven't added descriptions, follow these steps.

  1. Access the document manager.
  2. Click the page that you want to edit. If the page is not checked out by another user, the system checks it out, and it is ready for editing. If the page is checked out by another user, you are not permitted to check it out until it is checked in again.
  3. In Edit mode, click in the section where the image is.
  4. Right-click the image and select Insert Image. The Insert/edit image menu opens. It shows the image file name and dimensions.
  5. Type a description into the Image description field.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the Save button on the content area editor toolbar. The changes are saved. The content area exits Edit mode.
