Tagging and mapping

Data items and meta tags are identifiers that you will use as references when you map content pages to the various areas of the portal.

Use data items to map content to a section of a landing page.

Use meta tags for these functions:

  • Map content to the Related Links list on a landing page.
  • Map a form to the Find A Form list on the landing page sidebar.
  • Map content to a widget.
  • Map transactional links.

This is referred to as intuitive interlinking. Intuitive interlinking of content to landing pages is how a portal is built. Documents are meta tagged to map to the desired positions on the landing pages to activate the interlinking.

Meta tags can be configured on documents which have been pre-built for specific landing pages. They can be added to place documents onto custom landing pages, and they can be added to secondary pages on the portal if you wanted a document to be listed on more than one landing page.

The interlinking strategy is based on several variables: subject, section, widget of the landing page and whether or not the document being mapped is a form or a related link.

If you know what each of these are, you can place documents anywhere on your portal.

  • Each landing page has a subject. This is a unique identifier for each landing page.
  • Each landing page has multiple sections. Each landing page has nine sections, numbered _1 through _9.
  • Each landing page has a related link section. This features a link on the Related Links section of the left sidebar.
  • Each landing page has a form link section. This features a form on the Find a Form section of the left sidebar.
  • Each landing page has a widget option. Widgets for landing pages can be featured on the Home page.
