Configuring point periods

Use the Point Period Configuration page to configure point period instructions for owner room rotation. When first entering the screen there are no periods. You can have the point periods automatically calculated by the application, or you can opt to manually reset the point period. The EOD process creates the point periods and resets the points on the Reset On date. Each Room is assigned a random number the is very small. The range of number is 0.0001 to 0.0001 * Number of rooms. This causes a random order to start the new point period The start date of the period will be the next hotel date, not the start date on the screen. Subsequent periods are created by the EOD process on the end date of the current period depending on the selected Reset Type:

  • Days: When selected the Days field is available to specify the number of days in each period. The reset boundary starts on start date. Subsequent start dates are gotten by adding the number of days specified to start date, then adding the days to this date to get the next date, and so on.
  • Monthly: When selected the reset boundaries start on the start date and the same day of the month every month afterwards. If the day of the month does not exist, then the last day of the month is used, but subsequent boundaries continue to use the original value.
  • Annual: When selected the reset boundaries starts on the start date and the same day and month every year afterwards.
  • Semi Annual: When selected the reset boundaries start on the start date and the same day of the month every six months afterwards.
  • Manual: When selected the start date is the hotel date at the time of EOD, there is no end date until the user manually clicks Reset Now which closes the active point period and creates a new point period. Initial points are assigned to the rooms for the new point period.

The page displays a row for the current point period and each past point period that includes the point period start and end date, number of days, reset date, reset user, number of owner room nights, number of transient room nights, revenue, and the number of points. You can click Actions to select one of the following options:

  • Room Summary: Click to bring up the Room Rotation Room Summary page. The room summary grid will display rooms that are active for the selected point period. If no point period is selected, the room summary grid will display rooms that are active for the current period. If there is no current point period and there is no selected point period, the screen does not show any rooms.
  • Rules: Click to bring up the Owner Room Rotation Point Rules page. Rules displayed are those that are active for the selected point period record. If no point period is selected, the rules for the current period are displayed. The rules displayed will have a start date that is before the point period end date, and an end date that is after the point period start date.
  • Re-calculate: Click to re-calculate. Only the point period row selected is re-calculated, and only if there are rules defined that overlap the period. Re-calculate will always only re-calculate for past dates and does not include the current hotel date.
