Maintaining sales channels

Sales channels establish the methods by which customers can reach your properties in order to make reservations, for example: through a booking agency, a website, or by calling the central reservations office. Sales channels are configured during the Infor HMS installation, but you can modify and update sales channel information on the Maintain Sales Channels screen.

Sales channels are closely associated with yieldable costs and values. Click the Yieldable Costs & Values link. Refer to Adding yieldable costs and values.

To maintain sales channels:

  1. Select Rates and Sales > Sales > Sales Channels. The Maintain Sales Channel screen is displayed showing a list of all configured sales channels.
  2. Select the sales channel to work with and click Edit. The Channel Details tab is displayed.
  3. Specify the information that you require. See additional details about these fields:
    Source of Business

    Specify the source of business. Your options are based on the codes defined for Source of Business on the Maintain Global Codes page.

    Sales Strategy
    Specify the sales strategy. Your options are based on the codes defined for Sales Strategy on the Maintain Global Codes page.
    Yieldable?
    Select to indicate that the sales channel includes yieldable costs and values. Yieldable costs and values can be added to a rate plan, package plan, or channel to more accurately represent the true cost of a room when the system compares a rate against the opportunity cost during the reservation process, and thus the cost or value will be added or subtracted from the rate value before evaluating against opportunity cost to see if a rate is available.
    Cost Per Transaction Type
    Select how the costs will be priced for the transaction type. Your options are Fixed or Percent.
    Cost Per Transaction Amount
    Specify the per transaction cost for the sales channel.
  4. In the Contact Information section, specify the information that you require.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click the Additional Channel Options tab.
  7. Specify this information:
    Channel Type
    Specify the sales channel type.
    Expiration time for pending transactions
    Specify the time in minutes after which pending transactions expire.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click the Assign Properties tab. A list of all the chains associated with the sales channel is displayed and a list of all the associated properties.
  10. Select a chain and click Edit.
  11. Set the chain as Active or Inactive as necessary.
  12. Select the property to work with and click Edit.
    Note: Use the Property Search feature to search for a specific property using the property code.
  13. Set the property as Active or Inactive as necessary.
    Note: Click Reset Property List to refresh the property list and display all properties associated with the sales channel.
