Copying records

Note: To copy records, you must have insert rights for the organization of the record you are copying.

You can use the Copy Record toolbar button to copy information from one record to another on the same page. Copying a record creates an editable record that contains the same base data. The Copy Record button is available for use only on forms that have list view and record view pages.

To copy a record:

  1. Open the page from which to copy a record.
  2. Click the List View tab.
  3. Select the Dataspy to run and then click the Run button.
  4. Select the record to copy and then click Copy Record on the toolbar. The system copies values from the existing record to the new record and displays the page in insert mode.
    Note: To maintain certain business and security rules, some displayed fields may not be copied to the new record. Verify all copied data before saving the record.
  5. Modify the new record as necessary.
  6. Click Save Record on the toolbar.
