Setting up devices

Set up or edit devices and associate to specific properties. Devices include printers, workstations, key cutters, card readers, and chip and pin readers.

When setting up workstations as devices in order to include the Workstation ID in authorization requests or settlement requests, the property parameter CCWORKSTATIONID must also be enabled. See About MasterCard's lane identifier mandateandProperty parameters.

To set up devices:

  1. Select Administration > Setup > Devices.
  2. On the List View tab, click New Record. The Record View tab is displayed.
  3. Specify this information:
    Device
    Enter a unique code identifying the device, and then enter a description of the device in the adjacent field. When setting up workstations as devices, do so according to the three payment gateway applications that are currently supported:
    • Merchant Link: The format of Device should be any unique 4 digits.
    • Elavon Fusebox: The format of Device should be 1-8 characters without padding.
    • Elavon Protobase (including Hosted Protobase): This payment gateway application requires each workstation to have it's own Merchant Key. The Merchant Key is entered in the Device, then each device is linked to a workstation using the Workstation ID field.
    Property
    Enter the property to which to associate the device.
    Destination
    Enter a unique destination identifying the path to the device, e.g. printer or key cutter.
    Device Category
    Select the category of the device, for example, select Printer if the device is a printer.
    Special
    Select to designate the device as special.
    Workstation ID
    Workstation ID is required when the device category is workstation and is not available any other device category.
  4. Click Save.
    Note: When the Device Category is set to Key Cutter and the KEYVENDORREQ parameter is selected, the Key Vendor value must be specified.
