About leases and shoulder stay dates

Leasing functionality can be configured to allow for guest shoulder stay dates. There are two settings in the Lease Configuration screen that control the method of how the application will handle guest shoulder stay dates. Only one setting can be selected. If no method is selected, guest shoulder stay dates are not permitted and a separate guest stay record must be created to accommodate for any stay dates outside of the lease start and end date.

  • Allow Shoulder Stay Dates: The shoulder stay dates are not managed by the lease (not included in the lease schedule) and will be charged according to the rate plan specified in the Shoulder Rate Plan field of the lease record. The nightly rate for the shoulder stay dates will be charged to the guest.
  • Lease Managed Shoulder Periods: The shoulder stay dates are managed by the lease. A guest stay on a lease may have shoulder stay dates according to the lease record by defining a shoulder start and end date, or by defining how many shoulder stay days can come before or after the lease start and end dates. Shoulder stay dates will cause a shoulder lease period to be added to the lease schedule. There can only be one shoulder before and one after the lease start and end dates. Any updates to the shoulder stay dates could cause the shoulder period dates to be updated. The shoulder stay dates will be charged the leasing rate's calculated daily rate. Lease fees can only be added based on the lease dates and not shoulder dates. Lease upgrades are allowed on the shoulder stay dates. The Room Plan and Room Availability screens will display lease managed shoulder stay dates as lease dates. The shoulder dates may have shares. If a shoulder period is invoiced, the guest stay may not be modified to eliminate the dates. Reports will consider any shoulder periods as lease dates.
