Understanding the Start Center

The Start Center shows Inbox entries and key performance indicators (KPIs). The Start Center is displayed when you first log in to Item Harmony and also can be accessed from any page in the application by clicking Start Center in the page header.

About the Inbox

The Start Center Inbox displays pending actions or activities (Inbox entries) for users. You can open pages necessary to complete actions or activities associated with Inbox entries directly from the Inbox. Also, Inbox entries can be assigned to specific user groups or defined as public entries that are displayed for all users.

Access the Inbox by invoking the Start Center, or the system administrator can set up the Start Center to open automatically when you log in to the system. Configure the Inbox to refresh completely or selectively every time it is accessed. Depending on your system privileges, you can modify the Inbox by adding or deleting entries. You also can modify the order and sequence in which entries are displayed.

The system administrator associates SQL select statements with Inbox entries. These statements define database queries for the appropriate instances of an entry to retrieve to your Inbox. A description and value is displayed for each entry in the Inbox. If a page is selected for an entry during definition, the system administrator enters a Dataspy for the Inbox entry to automatically query for and retrieve the records associated with the Inbox entry when the target page is invoked.

About KPIs

KPIs are user-defined parameters that measure productivity or efficiency. The Start Center page displays KPIs and their scores. This allows you to view the status of your work environment with respect to the KPIs specific to your job, as well as your current score for each KPI. KPI scores are calculated at regular intervals base on the KPI definition.

The system administrator defines and grants access to KPIs. KPIs can be assigned to specific user groups or defined as public entries that are displayed for all users.

Access KPIs by invoking the Start Center, or the system administrator can set up the Start Center to open automatically when you log in to the system. Depending on your system privileges, you can configure the Start Center to display KPIs based on your preferences.
