Maintaining room rates
Use the Maintain Room Rates page to view all the rates that are configured for the property with the exception of leasing rates. For leasing rates refer to Configuring leasing rates. You can use the following filters to search for the rates that you want to view:
- Currency
- Status
- Rate Type
You can use the Rate Configuration section to:
- Define new property rates
- Maintain child rates
- Define global booking restrictions
You can use the following tabs to define the room rates:
- Rates by Currency
- All Room Rates
- Room Types
Before you can maintain the room rates, you must define the rates on the Standard Rate Plan Codes page.
To maintain the room rates:
- Select Rate and Sales > Pricing > Room Rates.
- Select the rate type that you want to modify from the Select Rate Type section.
- Click the Rates by Currency tab.
- Click the rate that you want to modify.

In the Rate Plan
Details section on the Property Rates tab, the following information
is displayed:
- Rate Plan
- The name of the rate plan.
- Market Segment
- The market segment assigned to the rate plan on the Standard Rate Plan page.
- Player Rank
- Specify the player rank. The field is displayed only if the property parameter CMSINTG check box is selected, which enables the Casino Management System (CMS) integration. If the CMS is enabled, the rates are quoted by the system based on player rank code.
- Control Segment
- The value that is maintained and validated
in the Global Codes to retrieve rate plan details.Note: This field is displayed if the RATEBYCONTROLSEGMENT property parameter check box is selected and a value is specified in the CMSPRTNR property parameter.
- Resort Fee
- The code assigned to the guest and group
accounts.Note: This value is defaulted when you select the Rate Plan that has a resort fee specified.
- Rate Information
- The rate plan description that is displayed to the reservation staff.
- Complimentary Rate
- If this check box is selected, the property rate is used as a complimentary rate. Packages are allowed for complimentary rates.
- Rate Basis
- The basis on which the rates for the rate
plan that you are modifying is calculated. Following are the
available options:
- Base Rate
- Use As Derivative Only
- This field is displayed only when you select the value Base Rate in the Rate Basis field. Select this check box to indicate that this rate plan must be used to derive the rates for other rate plans. The rate plan itself will not show as a sell option when this setting is enabled.
- Allow Manual Adjustments
- This field is displayed only when you select the value Base Rate in the Rate Basis field. Select this check box to allow the user to manually modify the rates for this rate plan.
- Rate Duration
- The duration for which
the rates defined in this rate period are valid.
Following are the available options:
- Continuous Duration: The rate plan has a definite beginning date, but rates continue to be effective until new rate period is specified.
- Limited Duration: The rate plan is effective from the starting date through the end date that you specify.
- Adjust Baseline Rate
- Adjustment Type
- The type of adjustment
that must be carried out to calculate the new
rates. Following are the available values:
- Adjust Baseline Rate: Determines whether the adjustment is to be calculated by fixed amount or percentage.
- Adjust rate based on the Best Available Rate: This is enabled when you use Revenue Management Controls.
- Baseline Rate Plan
- Select the baseline
rate plan that must be adjusted to calculate the
new rates.
- Increase Rates by: Enter the dollar or percentage values by which rates must be increased.
- Decrease Rates by: Enter the dollar or percentage values by which rates must be decreased.
- Rounding Scale
- Select a rounding option to use in the event that a rate is not adjusted to a whole number. When rounding up or down, enter the rounding value that must be calculated. For example, to the nearest 5c or full dollar.
- Base Rate
- Set Rates To
- Specify the rates. The field is displayed only if you select the option Set Exact Rate in the Adjustment Type field.
- Commissionable
- If this check box is selected, the
commission is applicable for the rate plan. The commission related
fields are enabled.Note: By default, this check box is selected.
- Commission Pricing
- The commission pricing type for the selected rate plan. You can set this field to Flat or Per Night.
- Commissionable Percentage
- The percentage of the guest revenue that
is paid to the additional booking agency for the guest stay as
required. The commissions and commission percentages are specified
for booking agencies on the Booking
Agency Profile screen. If Pay Commission is selected
and a Commission Percentage is specified for a booking agency
profile, the Commission Percent is populated.Note: This field is disabled if the Commission Pricing field is set to Per Night.
- Commission Flat Amount
- The Flat rate commission that is paid to the primary booking agency based on the guest stay.
- Minimum Length of Stay
- The rate can be used only when the guest stays in the property for the minimum number of days that you specify.
- Maximum Length Of Stay
- The maximum duration for which the guest may book using this rate plan.
- Maximum Night per Reservation
- The maximum number of nights the guest can reserve for the
rate plan.Note: This configured value is validated for a reservation on the Rate Shoppingscreen.
- Minimum Leadtime
- Specify the minimum number of days that must be available between the current date and the arrival date. To make a reservation, the difference between the current date and the arrival date must be greater than or equal to the minimum lead-time. If you leave this field blank, you can use the rate plan immediately.
- Maximum Leadtime
- Specify the maximum number of days that must be available between the current date and the arrival date. To make a reservation, the difference between the current date and the arrival date must be less than or equal to the maximum lead-time. If you leave this field blank, there is no restriction and you can use the rate plan to create a reservation for date far away in the future.
- Limited
- Select this check box to indicate that the Rate Plan is
configured as ‘Limited’ for the specified date range.Note: The limitation is configured on the Limit Restriction screen.
- Minimum Number of Guests
- The rate can be used only when the minimum number of guests that you specify, stay in the property.
- Room Only
- The rates include the charge for the room only.
- Price Includes Package Items
- The rates include the room charge and the charge for package items.
- Tax Included
- The rate includes the room charge as well as the tax.
- Apply Dynamic Pricing
- Select the check box to indicate that the rate can be used for dynamic pricing.
- Yieldable
- Select the check box to calculate the yield from this rate using Revenue Management Controls.
- Update Reservation Rates
- Click the button to re-quote the rates based on the current rate setup for all confirmed and non-group reservations that have this rate plan. The Update Resv Rates is only available if the Reservation Re-Quote is set to Enabled. Refer to Updating reservation rates.
- Copy Restrictions
- Click Copy Restrictions to select the rate plan from which you want to copy the restrictions to the rate plan which you are currently editing. The Copy Restrictions is available only when the Value check box of the property parameter COPYRESTRICTIONS is selected.
- Exclusive Rate
- Select the check box to indicate that the rate is exclusive. The exclusive rate is generally associated to an organization and is displayed only for a reservation associated to that organization. The exclusive plan is not displayed as a rate plan that can be sold on its own.
- Qualifying Web Rate
- Select the check box to indicate if the rate can be used for reservations that are completed using the internet. This is used in conjunction with Revenue Management Controls.
- Allow Rate Overrides
- Select the check box to allow the user to override the rates and specify a new rate for a reservation.
- Commissionable
- Select the check box to indicate that commission amount can be allocated to the relevant party if this rate is used for reservation.
- Click Save Parameters to save the information that you have specified.
- Alternatively, click Copy To button to copy the rate values that are in this rate code to another rate code.

In the Rate
Structure section, specify this information:
- Length of Stay
- Select the length of stay. Following are
the available options:
- Nightly: 1-6 nights
- Weekly: 7-29 nights
- Monthly: 30+ nights
- Period Adjustment
- The period for which the adjustment is applicable.
- Click Edit icon to manually enter the rates based on the duration of stay.
- Set the status to Active.
- Click New Rate Period to specify the rate period for this rate plan.

In the Rate
Period tab, specify this information:
- Effective Start Date
- The date on which the rate begins.
- Effective End Date
- The date on which the period of rate plan ends.
- Length of Stay
- Select the option based on which the rate
must be charged. Following are the available values:
- Nightly
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Pattern
- Select the days of the week on which this rate is to be charged by clicking each day to highlight it. The pattern allows the user to set that this rate may be used only at weekends by checking the fields for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- All Days of Week
- Select the check box to charge this rate on all days of the week.
- Rates
- Enter rate amounts for Single, Double, Triple, Quad rates, rate for an extra adult and rate for an extra child.
- Room Types
- Select the room type(s) for which the rates are effective.
- Click Apply to save the information.
- Click Activate to set the status of the rate plan to Active. You can use only an active rate plan.
- Click the Package Details tab.

In the Package
Information section, specify this information:
- Terms and Conditions
- Specify the terms and conditions. The package can be used only when the specified terms and conditions are fulfilled.
- Minimum Lead Time
- The minimum number of days that are required before the package can be used.
- Package Duration
- The number of days for which the package is effective.
- Duration Repeatable
- Select the check box to indicate that the package can be used again for the same number of days, if the package duration comes to an end.
- Transaction Code
- The transaction code that must be used to record the package transactions.
- Offset Code
- The transaction code that must be used to reverse the transactions related to this package.
- Post Package Total
- Select the check box to post the sum of all the transactions that are related to the package.
- Show Tax In Package Price
- This check box determines the manner in which taxes are displayed in relation to the package price on a guest folio. If the check box is selected, taxes will be included as part of the package price on the guest folio. If the check box is not selected, taxes are displayed separately from the package price on the guest folio.
- Arrive On Day
- The guest must arrive on the specified day to use the package.
- Stay Through Day
- The guest must stay through the specified day to use the package.
- Do Not Average Room Rate
- Select this check box if the ADR calculation must not be considered for the room rates.
- Do Not Distribute Taxes From Zero Rate Night
- Select this check box to post the taxes for the zero rate night, if taxes are applicable for the day.
- Do Not Post Negative Room Rate
- Select this check box to discount the package item if the price of the package is less than the package item price. The posting of negative room rates can therefore be avoided.
- Folio Report Package Inclusion Header
- The description of the Rate Plan is displayed as the header in the package inclusion section of the report.
- Show Item Inclusion Headers
- Select this check box to display the description of the non-room item as the header in the package inclusion section of the report. However, you can unselect this check box to display the description, separately, for each non-room item.

In the Non Room
Bundles to Include in Package section, specify this
information:
- Bundle Search
- Specify the name of the bundle that you
want to search. Note: The non-room bundles that have a transaction code with revenue type set to None, can be added to the package on the Package tab.
- Select the bundle in the Available Non Room Bundles section.
- Click Add to add the bundle. After you add the bundle, the bundle is available for use.
- Click Save to save the information.
- Click the Sales Channel tab.
- Click Edit icon corresponding to the sales channel record that you want to modify.

In the Channel
Activation section, specify this information:
- Activate All
- Select the check box to activate all the sales channel. The activated sales channels can sell the rate plan.
- Deactivate All
- Select the check box to deactivate all the sales channel. The deactivated sales channels cannot sell the rate plan.
- Status
- To use a specific sales channel, set the status of the sales channel to Active.
- Click the Room Type Settings tab.
- Click the Edit icon to modify a record.

Specify this information:
- Sellable
- Select the check box to allow the room that belongs to the specified room type to be sold with this rate plan.
- Discount Allowed
- Select the check box to allow discount for the combination of the room type and the rate plan.
