This document explains how an item not in stock can be traced to a distribution order or purchase order and pre-allocated from there.
Items on service order lines are connected to a distribution or purchase order, and changes in the delivery will be visible on the service order.
Pre-allocation enables the service provider to predict delivery dates for items to be distributed or purchased. This means that the start date for service assignments dependent on items not in stock, but ordered through a distribution or purchase order, can be forecasted with higher accuracy.
The purpose is to increase the accuracy of planning service assignments with spare parts that are not in stock.
An item in 'Service Order. Open Line' (SOS120) cannot be allocated due to shortage in stock.
