Define Settings for Maintenance 2 (CRS789)

This document explains how you define general maintenance settings. These settings, control a number of service and work order processing by default.

Use this instruction when you prepare the system for production. Normally, these settings are not changed when production has started.

Outcome

General maintenance settings that control a number of defaults are defined.

The settings are stored in the system parameter table (CSYPAR).

Use the settings as a basis for setting up the maintenance module.

Before you start

The starting conditions listed in Defining Maintenance Settings must be met.

Follow These Steps

  1. Start 'Settings – Maintenance 2' (CRS789/E).

  2. Enter default services to be generated or used at specific points in the work order flow (optional fields).

  3. Enter the default planning meters for item/equipment records and select the default service prompt for generating new services. Press Enter to display the F panel.

  4. Select the defaults for generating new services in (MOS300).

  5. Specify an authority for service approval (optional).

  6. Specify the options for function numbers, service suppression and service cost warnings.

  7. Specify the optional float options, how ownership should be treated and whether more than 10,000 operations should be allowed in the product structure. Press Enter to display the G panel.

  8. Specify whether checks should be performed against planned orders to ensure that planning exists and that no overdue orders exist.

  9. Specify the rules for master scheduling. Press Enter to finish.

Parameters to Set

Program ID/Panel Field The field indicates …
(CRS789/E) 01. Default service – manual planned after removal … the default service that is to be used to generate a work request, when an equipment is removed with 'As-Built Structure. Update Removal/Inst' (MOS125) with a reason code that is defined as an unscheduled removal. This function is activated if manual re-planning is ser in 'Service. Open' (MOS300/G).
(CRS789/E) 02. Default service – manual planned after install … the default service that is to be used to generate a work request when an equipment is installed with 'As-Built Structure. Update Removal/Inst' (MOS125). This function is activated if manual re-planning is ser in 'Service. Open' (MOS300/G).
(CRS789/E) 03. Default service – corrective action for complaints

… the default service that is to be used to generate a planned work order/work request when a complaint is registered in 'Complaint. Open' (MOS500).

Note that a service will only be generated if no default service is registered in/for:

- The error code in 'Error Code 1. Open' (MOS572), or in –'Error Code 1. Connect to Position' (MOS449).

Leave this field blank if you do not plan to use complaints.

(CRS789/E) 04. Default service - overhaul

… a default service to be used for reporting service history in 'Equipment. Update History' (MOS290) when a component is entered into the system. This service is also used for calculating next due service date.

The service entered here must be defined as a general service with a blank product and service level 1. When M3 calculates the next due service, this default service will be replaced by the component specific service.

Leave this field blank if you do not plan to introduce old components into the system. This function is not normally used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/E) 05. Default service – repair … See previous description.
(CRS789/E) 06. Default service – inspection … See previous description.
(CRS789/E) 09. Default meter 1

… the first planning meter to be used as a default when positions are created in MOS440 if the next higher position does not have a meter. If the next higher position has a meter, the meter here is not used.

The meter entered here is also used as a default in 'Item. Open' (MMS001) when new serialized item/equipment records are created in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

(CRS789/E) 10. Default meter 2

… the second planning meter to be used as a default when positions are created in MOS440 if the next higher position does not have a meter. If the next higher position has a meter, the meter here is not used.

The meter entered here is also used as a default in 'Item. Open' (MMS001) when new serialized item/equipment records are created in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

(CRS789/E) 11. Default meter 3

… the third planning meter to be used as a default when positions are created in MOS440 if the next higher position does not have a meter. If the next higher position has a meter, the meter here is not used.

The meter entered here is also used as a default in 'Item. Open' (MMS001) when new serialized item/equipment records are created in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

(CRS789/E) 12. Default meter 4

… the fourth planning meter to be used as a default when positions are created in MOS440 if the next higher position does not have a meter. If the next higher position has a meter, the meter here is not used.

The meter entered here is also used as a default in 'Item. Open' (MMS001) when new serialized item/equipment records are created in 'Equipment/Serialized Item. Open' (MMS240).

(CRS789/E) 13. Default setting for Prompt product in (MOS300)

… the default validation when new service records are created in 'Service. Open' (MOS300).

The valid alternatives are:

0 = No validation

1 = Create services against the item table

2 = Create services against the equipment table

3 = Create services against the position table

This default may be changed on the (MOS300/P) panel.

The normal setting for plant maintenance is 2, and the normal setting for depot service is 1.

(CRS789/F) 16. Default setting Auto number structure type

… whether the field Structure type should be automatically assigned a number (001, 002, etc.) when left blank during new registration.

The purpose of assigning a number is to allow the same operation and sequence numbers to be registered in a product structure. As a result, the different services (and product structure) will create separate work orders and will not be netted.

This function is normally not selected for plant maintenance.

CRS789/F) 17. Default setting Create related service

… whether a related service should be automatically created when a new service is defined.

A related service will only be created if the following two conditions are met:

1. A default service registered in parameter 23 in Setting - Maintenance 1 (CRS788).

2. The main service requires that a component be removed before the actual service can be performed. This requirement is identified by the 'Component installed' field in (MOS300/F).

This function is normally not selected for plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 18. Default setting Completion flag MOS300/P

… whether the Completion flag in (MOS300/P) should be defaulted. If this parameter is selected, each new user will have this parameter selected in (MOS300/P). In (MOS300/P) this parameter may be changed for individual users, which will affect each new service that that user creates. This default is then used as the default for the field in (MOS301/E). The actual setting for this parameter is set in (MOS301/P), and governs its actual use in (MOS070).

This parameter is normally selected for plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 19. Default setting Automatic approval in (MOS300/P)

… whether released work orders should have the status automatically set to 70. This removes the need to manually approve work before it can be generated again.

This setting can be changed on the (MOS300/P) panel.

This parameter is normally selected in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 20. Authority/Approval ref no for internal work

… the authority through which the maintenance organization is authorized or certified to perform maintenance work.

This function is normally used within for example the aviation industry but not in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 21. Initial characters for auto function numbering

… whether to create a function number in 'Item. Define Relations' (MMS020) and with which first character.

This function is normally not used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 22. Suppress minor service if within X days of major

… a number of days within which a small service will suppressed if a major service is due. The system will consider how close the minor service is to the major service when the services are out of synchronization.

Note that service suppression will only work if something is entered in this field.

(CRS789/F) 23. Issue warning message at what percentage of max value

… when a warning should be issued because costs related to a maintenance customer order should be issued. Warnings are issued either when the repair cost of an item is too high (application message type 711), or when the material cost on a maintenance customer order line is too high (application message type 712).

The maximum repair cost for an item is entered as a percentage of the cost of a new component on the customer agreement in 'Maint Agrmnt. Open' (COS410/F).

The maximum material cost is defined per agreement line in 'Maintenance Agreement. Open Line' (COS411/F).

If you enter 50 in this field, warnings will be issued when the cost has reached 50% of the respective maximum values.

This function is only used when you use maintenance customer orders.

(CRS789/F) 24. Optimal float – update extra quantity in (MMS001)

… whether it should be possible to manually update the 'Extra quantity' field in 'Item. Open' (MMS001/K).

The extra quantity is used in rotable optimal float calculations.

This is normally not used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 25. Optimal float – internal lead time

… the internal lead time that is used in the optimal float calculation.

The lead time is expressed in days, and covers all internal time, with the exception of the actual repair time.

This is normally not used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/F) 26. Owner field is information only

… if it should be possible to update the Owner field in (MMS240/E) or (MMS235/F).

If exchange services are provided, the owner must be changed through reclassification of the serialized item. Otherwise, the field is for information only.

The valid alternatives are:

  1. If the check box is cleared, update is done via reclassification in (MMS130).

  2. If the check box is selected, manual update is permitted.

This parameter is normally selected for plant maintenance and not selected for depot service management.

(CRS789/F) 27. Allow more than 10000 lines as sequence number in 'Product. Connect Materials/Operations' (PDS002)

… whether the operation from date in (PDS002) should be used as sequence number to allow more than 10000 operations.

If this field is selected, it is important to enter the same number for all operations and materials within the same service. This number must be unique for each service.

Note that you should never change this setting once you have decided how to work and once you have started working.

This is normally not used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/G) 31. Check that planning exists

… whether a check should be done to ensure that all items that are required to have at least one planned WO have one in (MOS170).

Only items that have at least one service registered in (MOS300) without schedule code 4 and with a service level defined as greater than 1. If no planned work orders are found for such items, a planned work order will be created using the service defined in parameter 2 in (CRS789).

This is normally not used in plant maintenance.

(CRS789/G) 32. Check for overdue planned WO/WO requests

… whether a check should be performed to find overdue planned work orders/work order requests in (MOS170). If any are found, a message is sent to the planner responsible for the planned work. The serialized item's/equipment's operational status will also be automatically set to 80 (unserviceable) in (MMS240).

The mail can either be sent to the mailbox in M3 (CRS420) or to an external mailbox - see (CRS111).

********** **************** Rescheduling exemptions (39)*****************
(CRS789/G) 39. Restrict regeneration of master schedule (MOS170)

… whether 'Master Schedule. Regenerate' (MOS999) should be locked.

If selected, it will not be possible to select regeneration method 3 (complete regeneration) in (MOS999).

This parameter should be selected after go live.
