This document explains how you set up the internal M3 Business Engine (BE) application message functionality.
Application messages are used to automatically notify a responsible person that an incident has occurred in M3 BE that requires attention.

The application messages are generated according to your needs.
Define the users in 'User. Open' (MNS150).
Select one of these alternatives:
Generate and activate application message types
Start 'Settings – Application Messages' (CRS424).
On the B panel, select the option 'Create Message types' (F14) to generate all available application message types.
To activate an application message type, select 'Change' for the type.
On the E panel, select the 'Activity code' check box. Press Enter.
Repeat the steps above to activate more application message types. Press Enter.
Set up the display of application messages in (CRS420)
Start 'Application Message. Open' (CRS420).
On the B panel, select action Settings (F13).
On the P panel, select B as the opening panel.
Select the date format to use for the application message dates.
Specify the number of days that each application message will remain in the system before it is automatically deleted.
The deletion date is calculated automatically for each application message as the number of days in this field plus the date when the message is created. The message is deleted when (CRS420) is started and the deletion date is equal to or earlier than the current date.
Note that only application messages that have a status lower than 80 are deleted.
Specify a maximum number of application messages that should be displayed on the B panel. Press Next.
This field is used to maintain high system performance. If the maximum number of application messages is exceeded, a warning is displayed on the B panel. Normally, the value specified here is greater than 1,000 and less than 10,000. If no value is specified in this field and a large number of application messages are managed, the response time might be unacceptable long.
Start 'Email Address. Open' (CRS111).
On the B panel, specify email type Users (4) to indicate that the email refers to a user.
On the E panel, specify the email address. Press Enter.
Repeat the steps above to activate emails for other users. Press Enter.
