Create a pfile for the database

An init file is required for attaching the database to the environment. LifeCycle Manager will evaluate $ORACLE_HOME/dbs for init<SID>.ora files to identify the databases belonging to this Oracle installation. If you have created a database without an init file, you can create a pfile as a work around. This file can be removed later.

To create a pfile for the database:

  1. Create:
    $ export ORACLE_SID=<your SID>
    $ sqlplus /nolog
  2. To connect:
    SQL>connect / as sysdba
  3. To create the file:
    SQL>create pfile from spfile;
