Creating a Role Assignment Management What-if for a User

A Role Assignment Management What-if can be created to determine the impact of assigning new roles to a user.

  1. Select Manage > What-ifs on the navigation bar and click New to select Access Management. The Access Management page is displayed.
    Note: Alternately, you can also click the arrow option to review the violations generated by a What-if and perform an action, if required. See, Reviewing details of a What-if.
  2. Specify this information:
    Insight
    The name of the Insight for which the What-if is created.
    Object
    The primary object analyzed in this What-If. Possible values:
    • User
    • Role
    Select User as the primary object for creating a Role Assignment Management What-if..
    Type
    The type of Access Management What-if created. Role Assignment Management type is supported for this what-if.
    Data Source
    The data source linked to the selected Insight.
    Assignment Type
    The assignment to be selected for the what-if. Possible values:
    • Assign Roles: To assign new roles to the selected user.

      Click Add in the section at the bottom of the page to add roles. You can also click the Copy from another user option to assign roles of an existing user.

    • Assign Job Position: To assign an existing Job Position wherein roles are assigned to the selected user. The Job Positions displayed are based on the selected data source. These fields are displayed:
      • Hierarchy Definition

        The hierarchy levels created for a specific functional area,

      • Functional Area

        The functional area that includes the specified hierarchy definition.

      Click Add to select the associated scoping definition for the selected Functional Area. Roles assigned to the selected hierarchy are assigned to the new user.

    User
    The name of the user to whom the roles are assigned.
    Comments
    Additional information for the what-if if any.
    Rule Book Scope
    The rule books to be used for analysis.

    When you select the All option, all the Rule Books and Rules for the relevant ERP application are considered for the analysis.

  3. Click Save to save the What-if.
