Creating a Role Assignment Management What-if for a User

A Role Assignment Management What-if can be created to determine the impact of assigning new roles to a user.

  1. Select Manage > What-ifs on the navigation bar and click New to select Access Management. The Access Management page is displayed.
    Note: Alternately, you can also click the arrow option to review the violations generated by a What-if and perform an action, if required. See, Reviewing details of a What-if.
  2. Specify this information:
    Insight
    The name of the Insight for which the What-if is created.
    Primary Object
    The primary object analyzed in this What-If. Select User as the primary object.
    Type
    The type of Access Management What-if created. Select Role Assignment Management.
    Data Source
    The data source linked to the selected Insight.
    User
    The name of the user to whom the roles are assigned.
    Assignment Type
    The assignment to be selected for the what-if. Possible values:
    • Assign Roles: To assign new roles to the selected user.
    • Assign Roles as Another User: To assign roles of an existing user to the selected user.
      Note: You must select the user whose roles must be assigned in the Assign Roles as Another User field.
    • Assign Job Position: To assign an existing Job Position wherein roles are assigned to the selected user. The Job Positions displayed are based on the selected data source.
      Note:  You must select the Hierarchy Definition , the Functional Area values, and the related scope definitions for the selected Functional Area ,in the respective fields.
  3. Click the Roles Assigned to User section. Specify the information. See, Roles Assigned to the User.
    Note: The section is displayed only when you select Assign Roles or Assign Roles as Another User option in the Assignment Type field.
  4. Click the Rule book scope section to specify the rules books to be used for the analysis.
    Note: When you select the All option, all the Rule Books and Rules for the relevant ERP application are considered for the analysis.
  5. Click the Other Details section to add comments for the What-if, if required.
  6. Click Save to save the What-if.
