Promoting employees as a manager

Before a manager can initiate a promotion, the Compensation Analyst must first configure the promotion feature in the Awarding navigation page. This configuration activates the Promote action and grants managers access to the necessary fields and tabs required for processing promotions. After it is enabled, managers can use the Awarding View tab to update promotion details and finalize awards, if permitted by configuration.

  1. Select Compensation > Compensation Awarding > Awarding View.
  2. If allowed, update the Award and Promotion fields.
  3. Finalize awards only after updating all records in both the Awards and Ready to Promote tabs.
  4. Use the Promote action under the Needs Review tab to initiate a promotion.

    You must configure this functionality in the Compensation Analyst > Awarding navigation page.

    Note: If Span of Control is enabled, managers can only select positions where they are listed as the supervisor. If it is not enabled, managers can view all positions in the selection list.
