Extending an employment contract

You can extend the length of an employment contract by a certain number of days or by changing the end date. Only active employment contracts that are in Approved status can be extended. There is no limit on the length of time that an employment contract can be extended for.

If you extend the contract so it ends less than or equal to one year from the current date, the employment contract's work schedule date details and pay cycles are automatically updated to include the additional days added to the contract. Employee contracts that are associated with the updated work schedule are also updated.

If you extend the contract so it ends more than one year from the current date, the employment contract's work schedule, including its date details and pay cycles, remains unchanged. A blue alert is displayed next to the employee contracts that are impacted by the employment contract extension. The user must manually add new work schedules and create new employee contracts for the additional years.

  1. Select HR Administration > Contracts > Employment Contracts.
  2. Select and open an active employment contract in Approved status to extend, and then click More Actions > Extend.
Note: Only fixed-term employment contracts that have an end date can be extended.
  3. Specify this information:

Optionally, specify the number of days to extend the employment contract for. If you specify a number of days, do not specify a new end date.
    End Date
