Approving a leave of absence request

Absence administrators can approve leave of absence requests with a Requested status. If a leave request is rejected, then they can reset it to Approved.

The members of the organization can view and manage the leave of absence request depending on their roles:

  • The resource, manager, and absence administrator can see the request in its Approved status.
  • The resource, manager, or absence administrator can update the request. The result is that the status is reset to Requested, and the person who updated it is set as the initiator.
  • The leave request is not available to the manager if the resource or the administrator updates the request.
  • The leave request is available to the resource and manager if the manager or the administrator updates the request.
  • The resource, manager, or absence administrator can cancel an approved request. Canceled requests are not shown in the resource and manager views. The absence administrator can still view, update, and change the status of canceled requests back to Requested or Approved.
  1. Select Administrator > To Do > Leaves of Absence.
  2. Click the Pending tab.
  3. Select a leave request from the list and click Approve.

You can also approve leave of absence requests directly from the Leave of Absence tab.

When the status of a leave request is set to Approved, you can still update the status, or update the leave and change its status. You can also cancel the leave of absence request.

Resources and managers can update an Approved leave. If the approved leave is updated, this automatically changes the status back to Requested.
