Statistics Canada reporting

Statistics Canada is mandated by the Statistics Act to produce statistical data and insights that describe Canada's population, resources, economy, society, and culture at national, provincial, and territorial levels.

The Survey of Employment, Payrolls, and Hours (SEPH) provides monthly data on payroll jobs, earnings, and hours worked across detailed industries at national and regional levels.

As part of SEPH, the Business Payrolls Survey (BPS) collects monthly data on weekly payroll components, total hours worked, and the distribution of employment, payroll, and hours across employee categories, including hourly, salaried, and other employees. The survey supports the calculation of variables that administrative records do not provide.

To respond efficiently when Statistics Canada selects your organization as a BPS respondent, you can use the Generate Statistics Canada action. This action creates a report and a CSV file that contain the data required to complete the Statistics Canada BPS questionnaire.
