Completing a self-appraisal

You can see a timeline for the status of each appraisal on the Appraisal Overview tab. The statuses for the self-appraisal cycle are Draft, In Progress, Submitted For Review, and Completed.
  1. Select Performance > Appraisals.
  2. Select an appraisal record, then click Start Appraisal or Continue Appraisal.
  3. Select the sections to complete, and specify this information:
    Our Values
    Review the values and select the I have read and understand Our Values check box.
    Position Description
    Review the position description details and acknowledge the position description by clicking the Acknowledge button. The Position Description Acknowledgment form is displayed. Select the check box or specify your full name in the E-Signature field.

    If required, specify additional comments for the position description details.

    You cannot submit the appraisal if the acknowledgment is required.

    Evaluate Criteria
    Specify ratings and provide comments for each criteria section.
    Pulse
    Specify the information from pulse surveys.
    Response
    Select a response type from the list.
    • Short Text: Text for up to 100 characters
    • Long Text: Text for up to 250 characters
    • Yes No: Yes or No
    • Yes No Text Yes or No and a text description
    • Rating Scale: Selection from defined rating levels
    • List: Selection from a list of values
    Evaluate Goals
    Review and add a rating for each goal.

    You can add a rating on any rated goal, such as a completed goal.

    You can complete a goal.

    You might not see all of your goals. Goals that belong to other goal types are not displayed in the appraisal.

    Set Goals
    Review your future goals. Optionally, request new goals for the next performance review period.
    Completed Activities
    Review your completed activities.

    This section includes unvalidated competencies and skills, credentials, and education.

    If the continuous development module is active, then continuous development data, such as learning activity, is displayed.

    Planned Activities
    Review the activity requests and personal activities that you currently have in process. Optionally, you can request an activity, request a personal activity, or take action on a checklist component.

    This section includes list of items that are below performance in competencies, skills, education, and credential that result from a percent-fit analysis. You can also see suggested activities that can help you meet expectations in this section.

    If the continuous development module is active, then continuous development data, such as learning activity, is displayed.

    Rave
    Specify information from rave awards.
    Awards
    Specify information from other awards.
    Check-Ins
    Specify information from check-in meetings.

    To view appraisal check-ins, click the Check-Ins tab.

    You can create check-ins and view or manage appraisal check-ins created by your manager.

    You can also view and respond to pulse questions from your manager and add agenda items, such as Learning To Do, Goals, Accomplishments, Challenges, and Tasks.

    Overall Evaluation Comments
    Provide comments for the overall performance appraisal.
  4. If the Submit section is available, click Submit. When prompted, click OK.
  5. Optionally, to mark the section as completed, click Mark Section As Reviewed. Select the check box for the sections that are completed and click Submit. If there are unvalidated items, a confirmation message is displayed. Click OK.
  6. To exit the appraisal and continue later, click Save And Close. To resume, click Continue Appraisal.
    You can modify your responses. Save each section that you change.
  7. When the self-appraisal is complete, select the appraisal and click Submit.
  8. To view other relevant details about the appraisal, click the Additional Information tab.
    Additional information include these details:
    • Our Values: The mission statement.
    • Instructions: Instructions for completing the appraisal.
    • Take Notes: Contains your own private and public notes.
    • Completed Appraisals: List of all your completed appraisals.
  9. To generate the PDF of the appraisal, click View.
    Note: When Enable Continuous Performance Management is enabled, PDF check-ins use data from the new employee check-ins. When the setting is disabled, PDF check-ins retrieve data from the existing check-ins.

  10. To view your completed appraisals, click Completed.
