Roles and Security Matrix Report

Use the Role and Security Class Matrix Report to review delivered role definitions and the security classes that are assigned to each role. Use the report to evaluate security access requirements.

The delivered security roles and classes in HR Talent are listed in the Role and Security Class Matrix Report.

The report contain this information at the time it is generated:
  • Security roles
  • Security class assignments
  • Access patterns across delivered security content
  • Delivered security role and class templates that are set up by role_setup.template during installation.

Use the Role and Security Class Matrix Report to review delivered role definitions and the security classes that are assigned to each role. Use the report to evaluate security access requirements.

You can use the report during security planning to compare delivered roles and identify similarities and differences between the security roles.

In the Role and Security Class Matrix Report, you can identify security classes that are shared across multiple roles and unique to one security role that are shared across multiple roles and security classes that are unique to one role. Use this information to make security design and maintenance decisions.

Dashboard metrics

The Role and Security Class Matrix Report dashboard provides a summary of the delivered security roles and classes.

Roles Total number of delivered roles that are included in the report
Security classes Total number of delivered security classes that are included in the report
Assignments Total number of role-to-security-class assignments
Shared classes Security classes that are assigned to more than one role
Exclusive classes Security classes that are assigned to a single role
Functional areas Number of functional groupings that are represented in the report
Top roles by security class Roles with the largest number of assigned security classes
Most shared security classes Security classes that are used across the greates number of roles
Largest functional areas Functional groupings with the most roles and assignments

Role types

This table shows the role types in HR Talent:
Role type Description
Actor Organization Unit (ActorOrgUnit) Access Level Manage employees in organizational units.

Depending on the assigned level, users can update or view the information.

Actor Organization Unit (ActorOrgUnit) Viewer Provide read-only access limited to employees within specific organizational units assigned to the user.
Administrator Configure, set up, and maintain module settings, policies, and frameworks.
Analyst Support processing, analysis, and administration activities while primarily having view access to configuration areas.
Approver Review and approve transactions or requests.
Candidate Apply to jobs and manage personal information for the job application.
Cross-module HR roles Support HR processes across multiple HR Talent modules instead of a single functional area.
Employee Manage personal information, benefits, pay, time off, goals, learning, and performance reviews.
Manager Perform day-to-day operational activities and manage employee-related transactions within a module.
Viewer View information and reports without making changes.
Specialized Operational roles Serve specific business functions or integration purposes
