Configuring required notes for salary and equity awarding

As a manager, you can configure required notes for salary and equity awarding to ensure that justification comments are captured whenever awards are made outside of recommended guidelines.

  1. Select Compensation > Compensation Awarding.
  2. Select an awarding view.
  3. In the Needs Review tab, select the employee's name.

    When the required notes feature is enabled, blue buttons display under % Multiplier and Amount tabs, indicating that awarding outside of guidelines is available.

  4. Click either % Multiplier or Amount.
  5. Specify this information:
    % Multiplier
    Provide the percentage of the award.
    Amount
    Provide the amount of the award.
    Justification Comments
    If the entered value exceeds the defined guidelines, the Justification Comments field becomes required. Provide a comment to explain why the award is made outside the guidelines for this record.
  6. Click OK.

    After providing a comment, you can scroll to the bottom of the form and open the Justification Comments log. This log displays a record of awards given to the individual, including the justification comment, the actor who performed the award, and the award date. A red indicator displays on the record to show that the award is made outside the awarding view guidelines.
