Defining rate progression rules based on length of time rules
- Select Administration > Setup > Step and Grade Schedules > Rate Progression Rules.
- On the Rate Progression tab, click Create.
- Specify this information:
- Rate Progression Rule and Description

Provide a long and a short description for the rule.
- Version Date

Specify a version date.
- Currency
-
Select a currency for the rate progression.
- Active
-
Indicate whether the rate progression is active.
- Click Save.
- On the Rules tab, select Create > Create Rule Based On Length of Time, and specify this information:
- Group

If applicable, select the eligibility group to which the rate progression applies.
Note: The administrator must define eligibility groups, also called custom groups.See Infor HR Talent Setup and Administrator.
- Length of Time

Select a length of time rule or click Define to create a new rule.
- Waiting Period

If basing the rule on a waiting period, select the waiting period or click Define to create a new one.
- Allow Lump Sum Payments

Select this check box if lump sum payments are available after the employee reaches the top step for a grade.
- Allow Lump Sum On Step Move

Select this check box to enable lump sum payments for employees who are moving between steps.
Note: You must select both the Allow Lump Sum Payments and Allow Lump Sum On Step Move check boxes to calculate lump sum payments for employees who are between steps.
- Pay Code

To link the lump sum payment to a pay code, specify it here. You can then place a pay code on the payment record for use when interfacing to a payroll application.
- Calculation Option

Select the way in which the lump sum amount is calculated. Select a percent of base pay, flat amount, or custom calculation.
Note: A calculation option is required if the Allow Lump Sum Payments or Allow Lump Sum on Step Move check box is selected.- Custom Compute
- If you select custom calculation, you must use custom compute to determine the lump sum payouts based on the criteria set in the custom compute.
- Lump Sum Rate by Factor

Select if the lump sum is based on a performance rating or a step and grade schedule. If you select No, then everyone receives the same amount. This amount is specified in the Rate field.
- Lump Sum Rating Scale

If you selected By Performance Rating in the Lump Sum Rate Factor field, then you must select the rating scale by which the performance is rated.
- Rate

If you selected No in the Lump Sum Rate by Factor field, then specify the rate.
- Click Save.
- If you selected By Grade On Step and Grade Schedule in the Lump Sum Rate By Factor field, then click the Lump Sum by Factor for Grades link.
To apply a lump sum to each grade, select the grade. Specify the amount or percentage to be applied to the last step of the grade.
- If you selected By Performance Rating in the Lump Sum Rate Factor field, then click the Lump Sum by Factor for Performance link.
Select each performance level where you apply a lump sum, then specify amount or percentage to apply to the last step of the grade.
