Eligibility and prerequisite tasks
Prerequisite tasks are tasks that the candidate, resource, or administrator is required to complete before another specific task can be completed. A prerequisite task can be assigned to another task. For example, the Personal Information form task can be a prerequisite of a W4 form task.
These rules describe the functionality of task eligibility in the context of prerequisites:
- Eligibility of tasks is independent of eligibility for prerequisites.
- If the person is eligible for the prerequisite but not the task, then the person is assigned the prerequisite but not the task.
- If the person is eligible for the task but not for the prerequisite, then an error is logged. The task is not assigned to them. This can happen in these circumstances:
-
- The task is eligible to everyone, that is, no custom group is assigned, but the prerequisite task is restricted by a custom group. The user qualifies for the task but not its prerequisite. Because the prerequisite is not assigned, the dependent task is also not assigned.
- When the task and prerequisite task are restricted using different custom groups such that the user qualifies for the task but not its prerequisite. For example, eligibility for a task is set to the Location of Pennsylvania. The prerequisite eligibility is set to the Position of Manager. Users who are not managers but who are located in Pennsylvania are eligible for the task. They are not eligible for its prerequisite. In this scenario, both the prerequisite and dependent tasks are not assigned.
Exceptions for conflicts of eligibility setup are logged in the dashboard during initiation. The Exceptions tab on the Dashboard Details shows conflicts only if exceptions have been logged for the candidate’s or resource’s program. You can clear exceptions from the system.
The Exception Log report shows all exceptions that are logged during initiation. You can search for exceptions based on characteristics such as the transition program and task.
