SIC and NAICS identifiers for industry groups
Organizations doing business with or in the U.S. must identify their industries.
- SIC, or
Standard Industrial Classification
, makes use of four-digit codes to identify an industry group. The system is maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor. - NAICS, or
North American Industrial Classification System
, makes use of six-digit codes to identify an industry group. The first five digits are standardized in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The system is maintained by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
SIC and NAICS groups and codes are delivered with the software. An administrator must perform setup to link the organization with the correct groups.
