Competencies and skills

The difference between competencies and skills is that skills are renewable. Select from the list of competencies and skills already available, or specify a new one in the Other field.

Competencies and skills can be specified during the recruiting process as part of the candidate's profile. Employees and managers can also add competencies and skills to an employee's talent profile.

  • If notifications are to be sent when an employee, manager, or administrator performs an action related to competencies or skills, set up email automation for these actions.

  • If you want action reasons to be specified, you must create reason codes for these subjects:

    HCMActionRequestQualification Use for all actions except Cancel actions.

You can add or update a competency or skill, update a competency or skill's proficiency, renew a skill, or cancel an employee's request to update a proficiency or renew a skill. Use for these cancellation actions: Cancel Request To Update Skill Proficiency, Cancel Request To Update Competency Proficiency, and Cancel Request To Renew Skill.
