W-2C and EFW2C files

There are multiple payroll processes that automatically trigger an alert in the Submitted W-2 or EFW2 and W-2C or EFW2C files to notify the Payroll Administrator that corrections are needed and a W-2C or EFW2C file must be generated. These are:
  • Close Payroll
  • Close Off Cycle Payroll
  • Year End Configurable Field additions or changes
  • Employee Configurable Field additions or changes

When Non-wage type corrections are made, such as changes to the employee names, social security numbers, EIN, deduction payment description, and W-2 description, the Payroll Administrator must manually trigger the action to check if there are corrections needed for a specific submitted Year End Transmitter record in the Year End Reports list.
