Waiving a checklist component for a mentee

You can complete a resource checklist by waiving a checklist component. You can mark the checklist as complete even if the resource does not complete all the checklist components.

The same rules apply to the Waive and Validate actions. If you have permission to validate a checklist component, you can also waived. If you do not have permission to validate a checklist component, you cannot waive it. Therefore, you can waive checklist components for your mentees under the following conditions:

  • Mentors must be able to validate the component, or must be an activity. These characteristics are defined in the checklist component.

  • If the checklist component definition requires mentors to have the skill or proficiency that they are validating, you must have the competency or skill that you are waiving. In the case of a skill, it cannot be expired.

To find out whether you can waive a checklist component, open it and scroll down to the Validation section on the Detail tab.

Note:

You will see all your mentees' checklist components, whether or not you can waive them.

Note:

You can also access components to validate by opening the checklist on Checklists > Checklists or on the mentee profile.

  1. Select Mentors > Checklists > Development Tasks.
  2. Select the checklist component you want to waive and select Waive.
  3. On the pop-up dialog, provide this information:
    Reason

    Required. Select the reason code.

    Comment

    If applicable, type additional information.

  4. Click OK.

The component is removed from the Development Tasks list and can be viewed only by opening the checklist that it belongs to.
