Requesting transfers

Use this procedure to request an employee's transfer to a new position. This is implemented by transferring an employee's work assignment.

If your organization uses Position Monitoring and this action would result in exceeding the budget allocation for the new position, you may not be able to complete the action. An error message shows how the budget is exceeded. You can only complete the action by reducing the amount that causes the budget error.

  1. In Manager space, select My Staff > My Staff, and select the employee for whom to request a transfer.
  2. Click Transfer.
  3. Select the work assignment for which to request a transfer and click Transfer.
  4. Specify this information:
    Action Reason
    Select a reason for the transfer.
    Work Assignment
    Select the work assignment to which the transfer applies. The primary work assignment is the default value.
    Click To Enter New Position, New Position
    If you select the Click To Enter A New Position check box, the New Position field is displayed. Select the new position.
    Working Remotely
    Select this check box if the transfer involves working remotely.
    Organization Unit
    If you select a new position, you can also select a new organization unit, if applicable.
    Direct Manager
    Select a new direct manager.
    Pay Rate
    Specify a new pay rate, if applicable. If you specify a pay rate, you must select the currency.
    Comments
    Add comments if needed.
  5. Select OK.
    The request is routed for approval. The transfer is displayed on the employee's record after all approvers have approved it.
