Create a safety observation
Perform this task to create an observation record about or on behalf of a direct or indirect report.
- Sign in to Infor HR Talent as Manager.
- Select Health And Safety > Staff Safety.
- On the My Staff pane, select the record for the employee about whom you are creating the observation.

Select More Actions > Create Safety Observation.
The Safety Observation page is displayed.

Specify this information:
- Short Description

A short description of what was observed.
- Observation Type

Select Safety Incident or Near Miss Incident.
- Not Work Related
- Select this check box if the incident was unrelated to the employee's job. Or, select this if an illness contracted by the employee was contracted outside of the workplace. If this check box is selected, and if this is a safety incident, the Include In OSHA Logs check box is unavailable, and the incident is excluded from OSHA reports. This feature prevents non-work-related incidents from being sent to OSHA for recordkeeping.
- Is This An Emergency Situation?
- Select the check box if an employee, others, or property was in immediate danger.
- Date Reported

Specify the date reported.
- Observer

The default is your employee ID. You can specify a direct or indirect report.
- Observation Date and Time

Specify the exact date and time when you observed the incident, if you have this information.
- Observation Time Undetermined

If you are unable to remember the exact time of the incident, select this check box. You can use annother field to estimate the time or work shift.
- Estimated Time or Work Shift

If you selected the Observation Time Undetermined check box, specify the approximate time or work shift in which the incident was observed.

In the Location section,
specify this information:
- Location

Select the location where the safety or near miss incident occurred. This field defaults to the employee’s primary work-assignment location, if any.
- Not on Company Premises

Select this check box if the incident happened outside of the company premises.
- Location Details

Specify where the incident happened.
- In the Attachments section, attach a file and type a description of the file.
- Provide other relevant information in the Detailed Description field.

Click Submit to save the
information.
An observation record is created on the Observations tab of the employee details and on the Manager Safety Log page.
