Synchronization
Job-position synchronization is used if there is a one-to-one relationship between a job and position. Position-manager synchronization is used if there is a one-to-one relationship between a position and a manager role.
Synchronization always occurs from job to position and from position to manager, not the other direction.
Synchronization means that the following fields are synchronized: Active (status), Short Description, and Description.
Job-position synchronization happens automatically if the position is automatically created from the job. You can also choose to synchronize any position with the job on which the position is based. This is provided the position has the same name as the job. You can remove the synchronization at any time.
Position-manager synchronization happens automatically if you generate the manager code when you create the position. You can also create or remove the synchronization between a position and a manager code any time.
See Automated position-supervisor synchronization.
Synchronization affects the way that you maintain positions and manager codes in Infor HR Talent::
- If a position is synchronized from a job, you cannot directly change the position's name, description, or active status. If you change the synchronized fields on the job, the changes are automatically made to the position.
- If a manager is synchronized from a position, you cannot directly change the manager's name, description, or active status. If you change the synchronized fields on the position, the changes are automatically made to the manager code.
- If a position is synchronized from a job and a manager is synchronized from that position, you cannot change the name, description, or active status of the position or manager. If you change the synchronized fields on the job, the changes are automatically made to the position and to the manager.
Use this information to change synchronization:
- To change a job-position synchronization, access the job record.
- To change a position-manager synchronization, access the position record.
Examples of job-position synchronization
A position that is synchronized to job has a one-to-one relationship with the job, and the names are the same:
When positions are not synchronized to the job, you can have multiple positions that are associated with a job. The names can differ:
Examples of position-manager synchronization
A manager that is synchronized to a position that is synchronized to a job has a one-to-one relationship with the position and the job. The names and active status are the same:
When positions are not synchronized to the job, there can be multiple positions that are associated with a job. You can still have a manager that is synchronized to each position:
