Working conditions

Working conditions refer to the physical or mental conditions that may be associated with a job or position. For example, a job may require a lot of travel, exposure to dangerous chemicals, or lifting heavy objects.

A working condition is attached to a working condition type. A working condition type groups working conditions under a broader classification, such as ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL, TRAVEL, and so on.

Working condition types and working conditions are defined at the organization level and can be added to both jobs or positions. The position inherits the working conditions associated with the job and you can add working conditions specific to the position.

On the job or position, you can specify the percentage of time that the working condition exists. For example, if the position requires a lot of standing, you could specify that the "STANDING" working condition exists 75 percent of the work time.

Not all working conditions are negative. For example a working condition could be "Accessible" and would be made available as a preference for resources who require wheelchair access.
