Copying positions

Administrators can copy existing positions and their components to a new position.

They can update these fields to the new position:
  • Short Description
  • Description
  • Job
  • Direct Supervisor
  • Indirect Supervisor

After copying a position, administrators can verify and view the new position that is created from the Positions list by selecting Set Up > Jobs and Positions > Positions.

  1. Select Set Up > Jobs and Positions > Positions.
  2. Right-click a position and select Copy Position.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date
    Specify the effective date of the new position.
    New Job
    Specify the job to update in the new position.

    The default new job is the current job in the position that you copy.

    New Short Description
    Provide the short description to update in the new position.
    New Description
    Provide the description to update in the new position.
    New Direct Manager
    Specify the direct manager to update in the new position.

    The default new direct manager is the current direct supervisor in the position that you copy.

    New Dotted-line Manager
    Specify the indirect manager to update in the new position.

    The default new indirect manager is the current indirect supervisor in the position that you copy.

  4. Select the position components to copy in the new position.
  5. Click Submit.
