Creating cost centers

Use this procedure to manually create the cost centers that are used by your organization. Cost center information defaults can be a resource's work assignment from an organization unit or from a position, depending on the position rules. If the Position Default Rule for a Cost Center is No Default, then the work assignment is created. A cost center default is the work assignment from the Organization Unit.

  1. Select Administrator > Set Up > Prerequisites > Cost Center Project > Cost Centers.
  2. Click Create, and specify this information:
    Effective Date
    Select the date when the cost center becomes effective.
    Cost Center
    Specify the cost center name or number. The value in this field must be unique for the organization.
    Note: If you are interfacing data to Infor HR Management, consider the format of the cost center identifier when creating one.
    Description
    Specify the cost center description. The default is the cost center name.
  3. Click Save.
